Dr. Anthony Fauci, 79, is the head of the White House’s Covid-19 prevention and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, working under the administration of both Democrats and Republicans since 1984. He was criticized by Trump for being inconsistent when giving advice on masks. Fauci, along with other health experts, changed their stance about recommending people to wear masks earlier in the spring, after there was evidence that wearing them could stop the virus from spreading. When the new epidemic broke out, he stated that the authorities warned people not to wear masks for fear of a lack of supply for medical staff.
