The prohibited acts mentioned above are prescribed in Clause VII of the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964 in the United States. As such, it will take more than 55 years for LGBT people in the US to enjoy full protection from the law. The Associated Press news agency said the Supreme Court’s decision on June 15 affected millions of LGBT people in the US. There are about 11.3 million LGBT people living in the country, of which more than 8 million are in the labor force.
