Urinary accidents in dogs can be frustrating for owners to endure. Fortunately, in many cases, there is a relatively straight forward diagnosis and treatment. However, if there is an underlying disease or structural problem in the urinary system, what may seem like a simple urinary tract infection (UTI) may be much more involved. Typical symptoms are straining to urinate, an increased frequency of urination or blood in the urine. The first snowstorm will trigger an uptick in visits for urinary issues since the bloody urine may not be obvious to people until a blanket of snow highlights the reddish color.
